Crash

This morning the roads in NW Ohio are a mess. I my wife was coming to work in here E300 and there was an abandoned vehicle in the road just as she was coming into town. As she went around the vehicle the car slid sideways, hit and went over a tall curb, and lastly the front end hit a 4 X 6 yellow pine post for a sign. My wife is OK. Aside from the front bumper being cracked there is rather minor damage to the front. Due to being off of the road and unsure about the alignment from hitting the curb I had it towed. I am waiting to hear from the body shop. The officer at the scene could not believe how little damage the front end sustained from breaking a 4 x 6 post.

The officer called into the city and asked why this main road not been salted.

This will make two insurance claims in two months......ewh

I kind of feel soory for officers that have to drive those Crown Vics.....what a piece of crap. At best they are a crime fighting barge.

IDK though... we've got a 2004 and it's *GASP, i know i can't say this on a german car forum* not actually a bad car. Can't argue with a V8 that blows your hat off and still gives around 22mpg, and it's right comfortable. So far, it and its mercury equivalent in the family (a 1997) have been the most reliable cars in the fleet - or at least, they return the nicest reliability:effort ratios.

There are no other German cars in the family, except my aunt's BMW - so my grandparents '97 grand marquis is actually my choice when I have to borrow one while we work on the Benz.

My Continental's not too bad. It's the Lincoln equivalent of a Crown Vic, I think. It's not a Benz, of course, but it's not too bad. It's also paid for. Hard to beat that particular attribute!

Sorry to say guys, I too choose the Grand Marquis for my work car. I get 27.5mpg in my 400mile commute with the cruise at 77mph, RWD V-8 with seating for six and air suspension, ... it's no Benz for driving pleasure and handling but built pretty safe and economical.

I used to drive Cadillacs and Buicks. I can not even force myself to look at a Cadillac anymore.

What is the deal with current Cadillacs? The all look like the bat-mobile on acid now. Just who do they think their market is now, 12 year old boys?

Sorry this had to happen! I recently (in November) had a dumptruck back into the drivers side fender in my (two days after I got the engine in and running of course....) recently acquired '83 300sd. Well TWO months later I FINALLY got the money for it (because I told him I'm going to do the work on my own and he also didn't want to get insurance involved and since it was a family friend it was ok) and then almost two months after I got the money I finally got the fender painted and the car looking normal again as of today!

I'm just saying it's really frustrating to be driving around town in a car that you're so proud of yet has a huge ass for a long time dent because of issues with claims.

Good Luck!.

I have six in my family (4kids 8, 13, 13, 15) and have given serious thought to buying one of these cars. Excellent safety scores if you get the side airbags. Love the old school body on frame. I think the new exterior is tasteful. Is that central jump seat up front legitimate for a small person (ie 8 year old)?
I need something to replace my suburban. How is the city mileage?
thanks

Nate, you might want to go back and proof read that first paragraph and clean that thing up. Wasn't the easiest to figure out what happened, and to who.
Having said that, I'm glad the wife was OK. Uh, 2 claims ain't good......

The Lincoln equivalent of the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis is the Town Car. They're all built on the Panther platform. The Continental is FWD, although they were available with the 4.6L V-8. The 3.8L V-6s are head gasket poppers.

The ultimate factory Panther would be a Mercury Marauder. 32V 4.6L V-8.

Wow - that's what I get with my anemic 1.8L Subaru - I do get good handling and 4WD in exchange, however.
