Rattling transmission lever

Hi everyone,

This is my first post. Thanks for reading!

I recently got a silver w116 300SD. 226000 miles. I now understand the mania of the forum members here for their cars-what a beautiful piece of automotive art the w116 and other 1 series cars are!

One issue popped up as I drove the car. The automatic transmission shift lever vibrates as the rpm of the engine increases especially over 1800. This is usually felt as the rpm approaches a shift to the next gear. The shifts themselves are smooth though. Also from 55-65 mph, there is again a highfrequency vibration or 'burring' of the shifter before this resolves at higher speeds.

The paperwork shows that recently the car was diagnosed with a broken drive shaft mount. Can this cause the above symptoms? Is it a transmission issue?

Thanks for your help.

Gavin
