how to tell stock nozzels, eh sorry

I searched and searched trying to find the post that tells you how to see if your injectors are stock or not. To no avail. so uh how do I find this out....sorry repost. I'd figure I'll just replace them if they are stock instead of going through the trouble of getting a tester since I can't find one around my area.

if you have no idea the last time they were tested, odds are they are stock
you have open the injector to check, so much must pop test them after

search for sean C watts on this fourm, he has the best nozzle at the moment for a great price also

you want #265 nozzle if you care about performance, factory model if you dont

You might try searching for "nozzle" instead of "nozzel".

I am of the opinion that the stock nozzles of the OM617, provided they are not worn out, are better than any replacement you can get today. They provide a pilot injection that helps to start combustion sooner which in turn promotes more complete combustion. From the best information I can gather the reason that they changed design was due to the fact that the nozzles where more expensive to machine.

The problem with the "pilot injection" is not the cost it is that the tiny holes get choked with carbon. And to clean them you need some extremely tiny diameter wire. About a month and a half ago I pulled 5 injectors from a 82 300sd at the junk yard. All but one of the appeared to pass the "Pop Test". Until I looked at the Pilot injection holes that were all plugged up.

The tiny central hole #16 and the cross drilled hole #14 were completely plugged with carbon.
The next problem with the stock nozzles is that if you buy them with out seeing what country they are made in you will most likely end up with Made in India Bosch nozzles.
When you look at this pic the Nozzle Pintel on the Left his how they are dealing with the pilot injection now (Monark nozzles have this); by grinding a flat area on the side of the pintal. The Nozzle Pintel on the Right is a center and cross drilled Nozzle Pintel (like the ones in the illustration above).

know 100% is remove the injectors. Disassemble them and look at the markings on the nozzle bodies. You should have the SD 240 series. HOWEVER, if you plan on this, do it in a clean location and have a set of heat shield/washers as you should never reuse old ones.
