Sounds like a truck engine, is it one of GM's diesel V8's?

Well its an improvement, the stock ones had like 150hp.

I wonder how much more it weighs? Going through a corner might be an experiance.

Seems like a waste of a perfectly good diesel engine.

Thats a 6.5 liter Turbo Diesel GM motor. Real cool. Need to see a shot of it taking off.

I don't know its interesting and a clean install. The model of Corvette is a dog so anything is an improvement.

Probably, I just can't get very interested in vettes. The real vette guys would probably be pissed anyway.

Same here, I had a blast with my friends 91 back in high school, but damn that car felt like a cheap, cheap Chevy! Did good burn outs though!

Clarkson said it best, they are like a boy band.

that model vette is a poor example of vettes... probably a 79 or so...
and vette people aside from total purists, that is, would welcome any improvement to that vintage vette. as long as a ford motor is not installed.
I say that keeping it all GM would actually thrill the average vette head.
the 6.5 is not THAT much heavier than the small block chevy... in 79 the original power plant had around 150HP and less torque, so I am sure it's an improvement from stock, but I think a Duramax would be a better choice of Diesel motors...
if they did not change the transmission, it won't last long. same with the rear end and half shafts... they weren't designed for that kind of torque...

The new Z06's are pretty good cars if you can get past the image. I think a Z06 with some mods would be almost the perfect car to Gumball with. For $100k you could have a pretty comfortable car that is able to keep up with most of the front runners, they get OK mileage and they are reliable. Not as flashy or fun as doing it in a Lambo or Zonda, but about 1/4 the cost.

With a Vette you can probably Gumball for like $200k when its all over.

Sorry guys, I couldn't drive a vette without feeling like I was in a viagra commercial (I would be waiting for bob dole to come popping out someplace). I understand that the new vettes own the "cheap super-car" niche, and they do make a statement: "I wanted a real super-car, but this was all I could afford."

The old ones aren't really old enough to be classic, they're just old plastic cars. I didn't like them when they were new, and they haven't aged well.
