Did I cause any damage - cooling system flush
I have been reading various posts AFTER the fact of draining and flushing my cooling system, and now I'm a little concerned I may have caused some damage.
Procedure I used to flush is as follows: I did let the car cool down for a couple of hours but it was still warm, although system was not pressurized much, if at all, when I released the radiator cap. I drained the radiator and coolant was definitely warm but not hot. I disconnected the lower radiator hose and removed the thermostat and replaced the housing and put the garden hose in the lower radiator hose. Ran water through the thermostat housing and drained it out through the upper hose WITH THE CAR RUNNING. Basically, I just took the radiator out of the system while running water through the engine with the hose. Didn't take all that long for the water to clear up...and then I flushed the radiator. I am concerned about cracking the block or blowing a gasket etc., with the car still being warm...and running cool water through it. Any thoughts? Ryan
