Egr?

What is the small valve like thing with 2 vacuum connections that sits in front of the EGR? Is it part of the EGR system? How are they/it supposed to be connected? Do they need to be connected to something? Currently they are not connected to anything.

Thanks

There is a temperature controlled vacuum switch in the thermostat housing.

Vacuum goes from the black box to the temperature switch to the EGR valve.

You can eliminate all those lines if you're not running EGR. Just be sure to plug the supply line so you don't have a vacuum leak.
