This is a very controversial area here, perhaps second only to "what kind of oil should I use?" We all have opinions. I suggest you search the forum, you will find many hours of reading material. In the simplest terms, buy whatever filter makes you happy.

The bottom fell off of my Turkish FRAM oil filter! Also somewhere in the above thread I posted a thread on fuel filters. All of the companies that I have checked on make the Secondary (spin on) fuel filter of 10 Microns. If you want finer filteration than 10 microns see this thread Lowest Micron Fuel Filter Rating: Lowest Fuel Filter Micron Rating

napa or whatever is okay. There are hours of debate reading here about the filters, but the truest bottom line in my personal opinion is that the simple fact that you are changing your filters is doing 95% of the good your car needs... the particular choice of filter makes at most that last 5% difference. Any old Wal-mart filter changed regularly is better than the world's finest filter, never changed.

The NAPA 1385 (WIX 51385) list their filter as able to filter 32 Nominal Micron Rating. (A Nominal Micron Rating means that on the first pass throught the filter 1/2 of the particles 32 Micron size are filtered out.)The he diameter of a human hair is listed on some web sites as being 70 Microns thick. Do you want particles aproxomimately 1/2 the size the diameter of a human hair being circulated through your engine. The full flow portion of the Bosch and other filters are rated in the 19-20 Nominal Micron or less. Besides the NAPA 1385; NAPA also sells Preimum "Bosch Type" oil filter for $1 more. WIX is one of the companies that most often list the Micron ragings of their filters If you would like to take a look. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index.asp You can look your filter up by vehicle, WIX number or Competitor number. If you use a competitior number you will go to a page where the WIX number is blue colored. Click on the blue colored WIX number and the filter specs will appear in their own window.
