How to repair the cassette player?

The radios in these cars are crap to begin with, but I need the cassette player to play my ipod through the cassette adapter.

What's happening now, though it used to work just fine, is that the cassette player is clicking from forward to backward, continuously when the cassette adapter is in. Anyone know how to fix that?
