300D towing?

Can I tow a car trailer with a 2800lb car on it? I'd need a class three? Does anyone make a Class 3 for the w123? lol

it's been done, it is unsafe in hazardous conditions, but the car is capable. SLOW going is the safest way, the trailer/car combo will far outweigh the tow vehicle, so any problems and you are going to wreck, but if you keep the speed down, and are cautious, the 123 braking system is ok for the task. you MUST use trailer with brakes, and electric not surge... I have seen a 123 pull a trailer with a 126 on it.
I believe the hitch has to be built and it's not gonna be easy, because there ain't no frame to weld to, so you gotta put a lot of steel back there to attach to the unibody
240D's in europe have a basic bumper style class III, but I would NOT tow a car on a trailer with it!

There is someone here on the forum who posted pictures of a 300TD towing a 300D on a flatbed not too long ago, someone can chime in if they remember the info.

yea... My mom has an equinox but its really not rated for towing more than a small trailer full of brush. the towing combined GVW is 8000 lbs and I would have to go buy a class III hitch.

This is what your Equinox will look like if you try that:
