Parts number explanation

Hi,

Could someone with some knowledge of MB part numbers please help me with the following:

I need a replacement climate control unit for an '87 300TDT. My part number is 1248301885. I've found a replacement unit pulled from an '88 300E with the part number 1248303085. The units appear to be the same, with only the middle two digits of the part number being different. (those two digits are heat stamped, while the rest of the part number is ink printed) Can someone please help me determine, based on the part number, if I can use this unit in my car?
Thanks,
Rob.
