Power Steering Pump Bolt

The power steering pump bolt on my 240D '75 has stripped and will no longer hold the pump in place. I'm thinking of drilling out the attachment point and through bolting the pump. Has anyone had any experience with this? Do you think I will significantly weaken the attachment point?

Thanks for your help.

Iam not familiar with this model.

75 240D, that is a w115 right? Is that like the 220D? the neighbor has one sitting in his field. I`ll go look at it in the morning to see how it bolts.

why don`t you get a new bolt from the dealer?

Welcome to the forum. don`t see 115`s much.

You're right it is a 115. The car only has 240,000 miles, so I'm hoping for many more. Just to clarify, the bolt isn't stripped, its the part that the bolt screws into. Any help is appreciated.

You just need another power steering pump, and finding a used one isn't going to be that costly......
Welcome, btw!

Thumbs up

I'm not sure if the one I have for sale would fit on a 240D,maybe other members would tell you.But I have one for sale from a 1982 300D.You'll find it on my website.See the link below.
Good luck.
