Or you could do the prep work yourself then take it to Maaco or some other paint shop to be sprayed. Or a roller could work, it takes a lot of labor though. Cheap labor. :)

Good news. I just got done with a diesel purge, emissions removal (simplifying the vac system), transmission vac adjustments, alda switchover valve removal (alda still has the cap, ill have to remove it and tweak that) , and a new primary fuel filter (ill order a secondary one). Car now runs much better, shifts seamlessly, and acceleration has increased dramatically. Lets say if the car was pulling a 17-18 second 0-60 run, its now in the 15's.

I need to replace the air filter, sec. fuel filter, and do a valve adjustment. I also have what sounds like a massive leak in my manifold. Its not that subtle "whistling" sound from a bad intake seal, its more of a compressed air noise similar to when I forgot to put the alda banjo bolt back into the intake manifold when I did my last engine swap. And it only happens when boost builds up.

I did notice leaking oil cooler lines, and even though its not my future problem, I just cant resell this mb without replacing them. Thats just not right. You guys did know Im doing this to resell, right?

Great ! It's got the original plates on it too. Is it a one owner?
I just traded mine for a 1984 Euro 500SEC (Very nice SEC, but I miss Freesil already).
I may have to talk to Derrick about this one.

Nice Snag!

Yeah, but you want to hear the bad part of moving --- going from a 3 car garage to a 2 car garage; and the 2 car garage is only 19.5 feet by 19 feet. My current 2 car garage is like 23.5 feet by 24 feet. And there are NO shelves in the "new house".

I figure I'll have to put up about $1000 worth of shelves in the new house garage.

Sounds like you need a storage shed or two. I know I do....... {and I have a big 2 car garage}

That sounds to me like a stuck ARV.

anyone know why this engine is running too cool? Barely reaches op temp. Can it be a thermostat stuck wide open?

Never forget the space/possession law of physics (Newton's 5th law). "Stuff expands to fill all available space and in an accellerated proportion to the speed in which one creates new space".

good catch

You do know this one is the strongest, and toughest of all the W126ers, right? An example of the best S class diesel you could ever get.

The paint is shot but the rest might clean up well.

With the original Southern California 1984 alphanumeric plates on it, it's been a lifetime Californiacar, so probably no rust at all on it.

Out of curiosity, how many miles on it? (Not that it matters at all with one of these)

Great for the money. It will be a long lived car once it has been cleaned up and the issues fixed.

turbobenz 08-23-2008 01:48 PM

276,390 miles

I have the interior gutted and sprawled across my lawn as of now. Its cleaning up nice! All old mercs do

There is a white 84 300sd down the road from me. 236k, and full power but the sign on it said it needs work and it has noticeable Vermont rust[uh oh] and he wants 1500 obo. Sounds like you got a deal.

Yes, that is how they usually fail.

I just finished putting an SEC bumper on my 81 300SD. This isnt the car im selling, this is my engine swap daily driver.

Looks amazing though and I got the bumper, two shocks, a bumper cover and two fog lights for 20 something bucks at pick n pull. Anyone have the front hitch cover they can sell? I tried using my old one but its not the right shape.
