Pulse adapter timing question..pics..help needed
I lost interest in the benz this past year.
![]() From my previous quetions on timing I came up with 14*-15* BTDC The car is a low mileage 81 240 D manual 4 speed. Valves were adjusted last year with hardly any miles on since. I have not checked chain stretch which I wil do this weekend. My questions are 1. Is the round open metal plate circle hovering over the dampener the TDC mark? You can see the balancer pin in the opening. Yellow line indicates TDC. 2. I assume the timing marker hover over the balancer is the tab below the TDC marker. I labeled it C. in (red) 3. The white mark on the dampener is the 14* degree mark at about one o'clock on the dampener past 0* degree TDC. if facing it from the front. so far so good? A, is the timing light and set at 0*( A.) it reads rightthe white line right on the red on the red tab at 14*.... My questions is... when I dial it back to 14*degrees the white mark drops down into the 3 o'clock position if facing it from the front.. Shouldn't the white mark be on the timing tab when dialed back to 14*degrees? Am I on the right track and good where it is or am I off by 12-14*? When I timed my small block chevy I just dial it to 12.5* and turn the distibutor till she lines up on the timing marker at TDC. I assume the same applies here. thanks for the Input.
