I believe you may have put the camshaft on backwards. I think the TDC mark lines up with the keyhole to make this an undetectable mistake. Please check.. not completely positive from your pictures

i've still haven't figured this out...
it doesn't seem POSSIBLE to install the camshaft backwards... or are you saying the camshaft SPROCKET? i attached the picture from that pdf that JT20 referenced...sure seems to look like what i did. anybody got any some helpful evidence? JT20? thoughts?

BC.. take a look at the photos an then the diagram above. Notice the lip and recess from the front of the camshaft. The keyhole on the camshaft goes all the way through.
If, however, the OP has marked the camshaft sprocket before dismantle, and has his/ her mark showing on the side that he / she made it, then I agree. - it is not wrong. |

one way to determine the original position (if the washers and sprocket are the original) is to remove the sprocket again, and look very closely a the markings on the rear spacer/ washer and the surfaces of the sprocket, it should be determinable from highlights and varnish. Did you take any pictures before you dissassembled?
