Why does my "Evil CCU Servo" squeal when I turn the key?
OK, it's not in one of my diesels, but there seems to be a lot of evil servo knowledge here.
In my new '79 450SL the servo will make a 7-10 second long squeal when ever the key is turned to the run position, or when it is turned from the run position to off. After the 7-10 seconds it makes no noise and it seems to work fine. I have a receipt from the PO replacing the servo a few years back and it seems to be the aluminum body type. What gives, and how can I fix it?

just the ol' trusty servo doing its job, its supposed to buzz for the first 7-10 seconds, but not squeal. I'd just live with it until your AC or heat doen't work since they're so expensive to replace.

It's sort of a buzz/banshee trapped under the hood. Nothing I can do inside it, or should I just not go there?
