Ouestions about 1984 300 CD

Does anyone have the specs for this vehicle and the options. Did they have ABS brakes?

I have located a 1984 300 CD with 129,000 original miles. Interior is in great shape the seals on the windows need to be replaced along with the seal on the front windshield. Does anyone know the cost of those?

any quess at a fair price for one ? It is golden brown.

Thanks

ABS was not available on US delivery. Euro Delivery it was.

Price is subjective to car's history, condition, maintenance, seller's love for the car, and of course, your wallet. Does the A/C and cruise work? Do the windows work? How about the vacuum systems? Etc.

Far As I know at this point everything is functional. The car was bought in Ga. later moved to Florida. The man passed away and left it to a nephew who drove it for 2 months decided he didn't like it and sold it to the guy that has it now. He is selling because he wants to move and has too many vehicles.
I found a ad for a 1985 300 SD and took a friend to look at it and saw the 300 CD under a shed. Thought I had seen it advertised a few months back but was not really in the market at that time.
So my friend wants the 300SD to replace a 1983 300D that is rusting away around him.
So that is the story in a nut shell.

Anything coupe-specific will cost more, like window seals, windshields, window regulators, etc. Aftermarket window seals for 300cd's are on eBay for about $300, but I haven't read any feedback on people who have tried those yet.

Also I tried to get seat pads for my coupe from my MB dealer and was told there aren't any left in the world. I would try MB classic for those coupe-specific parts too.

Hi, everyone haven't been on for quite some time. Phantom, at only 129,000 miles, that car should be like brand new if it was properly taken care of. It may look great on the outside, but with Benz's heavy rubberized undercoating, rust can form unnoticed unless you start tapping around here & there. I would find out how much snow/salt it has been driven through & start checking those vulnerable areas like underneath, wheel wells, trunk, etc.
I say this from experience. I also have an '84 CD that looked great until I probed around. What is this guy asking? Paul

Cool

We have agreed on $4,200 if it passes my inspection. I have looked at the 300 CD but only spent a little time with it. The door seals need replacing and the front windshield seal also needs to be replaces. I will throughly check the door bottoms, trunk, under the battery tray, wheel wells for rust. I will check the blowby and transmission shifts and look for leaks. The drivetrain will also be looked at.The interior is in great condition. The paint also looks good but I didn't have time to really examine it to see if it is a repaint or orignal.
Is there any other ares I need to address?
Thanks for everyones imput

That's not bad. I paid $4,000 for mine back in 2001 with 271,000 on it. The only reason why I paid so much was because it ran like new, the interior is flawless, but probably mostly of the rare color combo. I was tired of Palomino. It is signal red with a black interior. Still, for $4,200 I would scrutinize it very carefully. Hope it turns out great for you, Paul.

That's too funny my wife and I were talking about the color and agreed that red would be great. But as you know finding these is getting harder and harder and the color gold seems to be on a lot of the 300's.
This is the first one that I have been able to look at that was close enough to home. There was a 1982 but I talked to that guy once and now he doesn't answer his phone or return e-mails.
This may not be the one but looks promising. I'm 50 so I have learn that patience pays in the end.

The one you are looking at is gold and red? Thats the color my my coupe, with the seemingly McDonalds special edition fries color combo.

I paid $5000 for mine, it's a non-turbo and it had 122k on it, recent timing chain, new rear end, etc other work done, A/C working and in excellent garaged condition with very good exterior and interior. There was rust under the doors though where the window seal failed.

The window seals that are expensive and need replacing should be a bargaining chip when dealing with the price.

PHANTOM better hope the seller hasn`t seen the prices on e-bay, a 84 300CD with 129000 would be $14 - $16.000.

It is a 24 yr old car. If things have been neglected you might dump $$$into it to bring it up where you want it. sometimes paying a higher dollar is cheaper in the long run.

Like some famous person here on the forum said, "There is nothing more expensive than a cheap mercedes".

I wish I knew of this forum back in 97 when I bought the 300D. bending over every time I took it in to the indy was starting to hurt.
