Transfer pump pressure
Checked my transfer pump pressure with a dampened gauge yesterday and got 13-14 psi at all engine speeds. I used a guage off an air regulator at first and it really jumped around. On my '76 617 is this pressure okay? Phil

I bet the Diesel Discussion could help answer this faster than the vintage guys could! I'll move it and redirect for you.

For checking the Fuel Delivery Pressure with a gauge between the Secondary Fuel Filter and the Fuel Supply pump out let. (These specs are for a 1977 617.)
At idle speed 0.6-0.8 bar At 3000 rpm at least 0.8 bar Also I would do this test with a new Secondary Filter. If the Secondary Filter is plugged I would think that the pressure between the filter and the IP Fuel Supply Pump would go up and give you a false high reading. If the Primary Filter is plugged you could get a false lower reading. |
Thanks for the advice. Phil:):)
