I'm going to look at a used 1985 190d 2.2 automatic on Saturday. It's on a used car lot, which I don't like, but it looks like a good car. Said to be one-owner, 157k miles, blue with grey leather interior, looks very clean.

They're asking $6,875, which seems high, but maybe that's just because it's on a used car lot.

What should I look for on the car? What are the typical problem areas on the w201 series? I had a 300td wagon so I know the basics of the Benz diesels fairly well and I've always done all the maintenance/repairs/mods on my own cars, so I'm mechanically inclined.

I haven't seen the car yet, but in pictures I noticed there's no emblem on the right side of the trunk lid. This is where the "2.2" emblem should go, at least on most of the 190's I've seen. Should there be an emblem there? Just wondering if there was paint or bodywork done back there.
