Pressure Converter Valve..what is it?

85 300TD

I was replacing the rubber vac lines today, car does not really want to shut off and door locks dont work, and came across a "Pressure Converter Valve". I only know the name because I searched the part number, 001 540 74 97, on allparts.

I did a search and found nothing.. I am guessing it's known as something else but I have no idea. I would like to know what its really called, what it does and how to test it.

Currently I have some hard shifting and perhaps the turbo is inop.

Thanks

PS...

I had NO idea that oil came out of the oil pressure line when detached from the speedo. I guess I never gave it much thought. This is the first w123 I have had. Had the speedo out to track down vac lines. I covered the steering wheel and myself in oil.

Not sure what that part is, can't find it with a quick search.
Usually with a difficult shutting down problem, it's a vac leak somewhere in the system, door locks.
You'll need a Mity-Vac or something similar to test a number of items. Including the vac pump, this can give you all kinds of trouble if it's failing.

1985 models have a pressure accumulator for the transmission vacuum signal, perhaps it is that?
