I considered buying one, but so many problems and if it has been completely fixed, engine subframe and all, it's really more of a curiosity than a real motorhome IMO.

The concept of a garageable 27mpg motorhome is a good one, in the right economy.

All I know about it is there wasnt room-I dont think for a 617 and Dutch said they came this way, and I am sure it was a 309, I still have the emblems.

This is the right economy for a 27 mpg motorhome if ever there was one! -------Garagable or not.

There's definitely room. I owned a 409d with a 617na. Same chassis but with dual rear wheels. I also owned a 307d with the 616. I can see the emblem on the front fender with 309d. The '9's were pretty rare. They were almost all built with the 616.

I rode to school in one of those old Mercedes Minni-Busses when I was a teenager. We lived in Iran for a few years. They bought them in kits and assembled them there, in Iran. (Kind of like Chrysler does with the Sprinter.)

I couldn't swear to it, but I think our school bus was a 308. Neat basis for a motorhome. Since I spent about 15 hours a week in one, while I was in Jr. High and High school, I have many fond memories of them.

Last day of school, during the revolution. I'm not in the picture, but I think the furthest bus to the left is mine. It was red, with blue, counterfeit MB tex. On hot days you had to peel yourself off of it.

I'm fond of the Westfalia converted Sprinters sold by Airstream a couple years back. They were expensive but are a bit more reasonable right now. $50k ish.

It's my understanding that they are still built in Iran.

No this was found in Zorn, TX- a wide spot in the road between San Marcos and Seguin. The Bigfeet people are found in east Tx in the swamps around Jefferson http://home.clara.net/rfthomas/news/txconf.html

I'm 90% sure that transmission is a 5 speed granny gear.
