Well there's the fact that it doesn't run, needs paint, has tex but is advertised as leather, and probably has an NA engine, ... special.

But at this point Frank is right, the price is tempting.

I don't know too much about Euros, but if it truly is a Euro model, shouldn't it have KPH as the main gauge instead of MPH? I ran the vin from bgkast on the Russian VIN site and here is what came back-

Notice it says 1980?? This guy could truly not know much about it, but sounds fishy. Especially with the VIN plate being on the dash rather than the pillar. But again, I'm not too familiar with Euros.

I'm guessing that the US speedo and vin tag were installed when the car was "federalized".

That vin / Russian site lists it with cloth interior, curious since the photos have 'tex. I wonder if the interior was replaced?

Hmmm...I missed that, but yet another fishy thing. The photos are definitely 'tex. So either the interior was replaced, the wrong VIN number was listed, or the seller is lying.

I just went and looked at the seller's feedbacks. He has all positive at 101 and most of them were from him selling stuff. But then I looked at the dates and he hasn't sold anything since 2006!

I'm probably being way too cynical.

It seems very unlikely that Mercedes would have paired a lapis blue exterior with a green tex interior. My hunch is that this vehicle is a Mutt - a car cobbled together from various other vehicles - an early 80's 240D with an added Euro bumper seems a likely suspect.

The starting bid is $200. That does not mean the reserve is set at $200. The reserve could be set at $2k for all we know.
