Why can't you just get another threaded insert from a auto dismantlers at least and put the new one in there? My Benz fuel injector insert is a threaded insert holding the pre-chamber in place.

I got a computer and am having trouble locating the parts needed to do the job... I used the site's site's and couldn't find anything under them.
I also sent a PM inquiring about the tool, thanks again guys.. I had forgotten about the tool rental program this site has.

The precamber's internal threading is used by either a slide hammer type tool with an appropriate adapter or a screw press type tool specifically made to pull 61X prechambers. As I mentioned, I don't have a prechamber in front of me and the illustrations are not the most detailed but I'm pretty certain that is the configuration. I would also add that I can't see how it could be designed that the internal threading of the locking ring could be syncronised with any threading internal to the prechamber as the rotational alignment of the locking ring is independent and will vary under various torque conditions, this would prevent any possibility that the nozzle holder's external threads could engage any deeper than the lock rings threads.

Early 601/3 nozzle holders using the pin type prechamber locking ring have a similar arrangement although I'm not certain of the prechamber internal thread specs for these, could be the same M22X1 or they may be M22X1.5 the other end of the slide hammer adapter.

Later 603.97 and 602 engines using the splined type prechamber locking rings particularly those with inclined injection have nozzle holders with external thread M22X1 and the thread is located closer to the holder's tip and when installed the threading is actually further down into the prechamber's body. Good Luck!

So I need a locking ring or locking ring and prechamber?

If I got the chassis correct as a 201.126 with the 602.911 engine the prechamber screw collar is part# A6010170203

It's listed on this site here-
http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=6010170203&itempk=39787&mfr=TYS:OES&weight=0.27

Or if you're in a hurry you could call your friendly neighborhood Mercedes dealer and they could get it for you.

That's where I got mine. Local MB dealer keeps 'em in stock.

WOW the local (1hr away) stealership was cheaper then online but they don't keep them in stock. :D

correction* it is a correct part but not the part, I bugged up the threads for the injector. so I am ordering a prechamber but that still leaves me needing to pull it (bugged threads still)

I'm confused. Did you bugger up the threads into which the injector fits? If so, then that is the part you need.

If you screwed up the threads on the injector body itself, then a prechamber ain't gonna help you there either.

Here's a pictor of an injector threaded into the locking collar --

this is the lock ring on a 602.911 motor, notice NO internal threads for the injector.

Oh crap. Same rings as on my updated 603 head. Yessir, you need a prechamber. Bummer.

:D, it's all good.

I plan to go see my welder tomorrow, we are going to make a prechamber puller out of a old injector. It will go in the prechamber and I don't care if it ever comes out again, due to the buggard threads. However before I can even get that far I need to rent, borrow or buy a spline tool to get at the prechamber.
I found a place online that sells the prechamber for $27 for my car but im going to call the Benz dealer in the morning and check their price.

what a mess. Good luck.

My concern would be threading your new tool into the buggered threads. Those PC s take ALOT of force to get out. Will the threads hold?

I will be sure to post my results, it may be a wee bit ghetto but I am confident I can get it out. :D

Billybob has one in the tool rental program.

Update, I pulled the prechamber and replaced it with one I bought from http://www.*********.com/catalog/1989/mercedes/190d/diesel_injection/diesel_prechamber.html it's a bit more angled then what is on the car and inside looked slightly different. seems like it is working fine though, I think I have a tiny compression leak but am hoping some carbon plugs that. I also ended up buying the prechamber puller from ebay and as I thought the tool survived with no adverse effects.

Now I just need to figure out a way to lower the idle since it's 1.1k warm and wants to hang when revved in idle. I also had a stuck injector or carbon bits on the cylinder I pulled the prechamber on, for 1/2 mile I had rod knock sound from the top end of the motor but it went away as I was driving instantly. Motor is smooth and very quiet compared to the worn out injectors that I replaced.
