Quick question regarding boost loss and gaskets...

Can a leaking intake manifold gasket cause an intial loss in turbo spool up?

I am trying to chase down a symptom I am having with my 87 300D. I won't get into too many details just yet because I have a few more things to try out, but I can't get to those until the weekend and it's killing me!! Is this a possibility? I'd at least like to have some lead to help me not think about it until I can get the manifold off and get the new gasket in!
I cleaned the area today to determine if it was an injector or the intake runner (#2), and I am fairly certain that it is the gasket (I have read that they like to leak around #2)

When I found out that my boost solenoid was clogged, I cleaned it out and had immense power starting around 1900-2000 rpm, but now it isn't coming on until about 22-2400 and isn't quite as strong as before. It *seems* like the boost is buiding where it should, but there is a slight delay..and I feel like I can hear the turbo or air intake a little bit.

Yes.........if you can hear the leak, it's serious enough to delay the onset of boost.

Thanks Brian, good to know!

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, and was actually afraid that I had a blown head gasket or something because there was oily residue all around the #2 intake runner and down.
It takes me a long time to figure things out because I am new to this AND it gets dark out before I get home from work (apartment parking lot) So I generally have little time to tinker around and make progress.

The leak that I hear, which I am assuming that is what I am hearing, is very very faint, but based on what I have read, I should not hear the turbo at all, so I can only assume it must be coming from the gasket.
