I just turned 46 and bought my first MB diesel 6 months ago. Despite having the big end rod bearings go out and having to do a motor swap already, I love this car! I had to drive my Jeep today due to icy roads (not going to risk some dum@$$ in an SUV totaling my 300CD) and I miss it already. And I'm a real Jeep guy - been driving them for 5+ years...
I wish I had bought one of these ol' W123s' a long time ago. If only I had known... |
Good for you man! Good choice! IF i hadnt found my SD i was going to plant an OM617 into a small pick-up or an E30 lol

You and Mattias08 can be the charter members.:D I know I'm the pot calling the kettle black in the maturity and nonsensical threads department, but you and Mattias really win the prize.

Youngtimer oldtimer benz club? Count me in. I'll keep my 300cd until it's crashed, since I wouldn't get the money back I put into the car if I sold it. I'm sure wrenching takes on a more interesting state when the MB owner is of legal drinking age... :)

My Mom's been on my back to sell mine ever since the day I towed it home.

When I was 16 years old, still living at home, washing the SL and taking her for a spin was my weekly Saturday activity. My father, being the smart alec he is, would make it a point to come outside, tell me, "you can't polish a turd" and go back inside.
I moved out many years ago, but my family is still likes to discourage my hobby. Ol' Turbo is a foreign name in my parent's household. My father, mother, sister, all my dad's friends and even Grandmother call it Valdez. Of course, this was started by my father too. Just one little oil cooler line burst and it gets such a reputation. Norm, my recently sold 1980 wagon, was called the Shaggin' Wagon by him. The Excelsior is creatively named the New Shaggin' Wagon. To be fair, the Excelsior is the first car I bought that my family actually likes. My mother said, "Oh, this is nice. You could actually take dates out in this car and not be embarrassed." Kind of a backhanded compliment, but I'll take it. |
Anyone can help me out with the new club that about to form???
Needs a name. Ages What Do you think is the age limit. Don't worry i think some one will open a Old timer Club |

If members of your family don't like your car then that's even better, because you get to be the one who drives it solely.

The "daddy bought my benz club"?:D
I couldn't join, because Zippy came from my grandmother. :D YBO (Young Benz owners) comes to mind... Kind of like YPO (Young Presidents Organization) Here's the YPO application, by the way. Can anyone meet the requirements? Holy Crap! https://www.myypo.org/NewMemberApp/Default.aspx |
Go ahead and apply, then. Might as well see what happens.:D
|
So, are you going to create the YBO?
I would join.... I am still a youngin.... :D |
