exactly.

Volvo safer than a MB? Yeah right. Maybe "almost as safe in some aspects"

Don't listen to them, there's nothing better than a W126, they rock. I'll keep mine as long as I possibly can. I've driven it 70k, and I'll drive it 70 more!

Skippy~ As for perception: Drive what you like and can afford. Those who don't like it can supply vacuum to one of your components. LOL

If you need parts, I have some!

Are they paying the difference between what you'll get for your car and what they want you to get?

Keep stoking the BMW vs Volvo fire. As long as they can't decide what you should get, there's nothing for you to do.

Short of a 379 Pete, a W126 is about as safe as you can get. As long as it keeps running, keep it. You won't win any races, unless it's against a 240D.

Actros617,

Thats the wrong approach! Never tell your parents I'll do something if you do something. They may do it.

Time to be a man and say "its mine, I drive it, I fix it, I feed it".

If mom wants to play the safety angle say its built like a tank and with the big shift of people moving to smaller cars it becomes more safe to drive every day.

Since your Dad loves his SDL, he should then appreciate how you feel about your car. It could be a jealousy factor. Your car is reliable, since you maintain it properly.

I was told I should have bought a KIA instead of my MB. I would love to see what a KIA looks like in 26 years and 256K miles...oh that's right, they won't make it there.

Before I voice my opinion, which I absolutely will -- please help me understand, and clarify something --- Does your brother have a MB E320....or an E32 Series Bavarian built car?

UPDATE -- I just noticed your 'signature', and answered my own question.

Here are my humble thoughts --- DUDE!!...wake up, your brother is so trying to set you up! His E320 wil flat out dog, the Bavarian E34 with M20 power! Don't let him suck you in....Hang with the 126-it'll be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

Now, my friend - here's an option for you ---- If your brother "really",wants to 'touch it up' with an E34 or maybe even an E28 - let me know! I'm here for ya...
