Junkyard finds that tick you off! @#%&&!!
I like going to the boneyards... It's like a walk in the park for me. Get a little air. Get some exercise. Check out the cars. See what I can find….
As far as Mercedes engines are concerned I always see the ubiquitous M102, M103, M104, M110, M116, M117, OM616, OM617, and the occasional om615. But I have never seen a OM603 in my local yards. It sort of become my not so serious search for the Holy Grail of the junkyards. Until today. I found a OM603.960 in a 1987 300D. And I was pissed for finding it! I hate people who does this to perfectly good motors. They should of taken the whole thing instead of letting it rot. ![]() (I apologize for the images they came off my phone.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All the cylinders have virtually no sign of wear at all. No cylinder ridges. But it has been raining here and rust has moved in. I can get this short block for cheap. But it might not be worth it for the shape it is right now. Sigh ![]()
