Nope, there was not more fuel added. Adjusting the ALDA is like pressing the throttle a little further. It does not control the maximum fuel (that setting is inside the governor body), its job is to limit how much fuel you have access to based on boost pressure to limit smoke output.

So I increased the amount of fuel I have access to based on boost pressure.

Alda

I did like forced said,I removed Alda, now more fuel.To increase boost I made a valve $4. to fit between wastegate hose. Then bought a boost guage at Advance for $28.I can get 12.5 psi without messing with wastegate spring. But I turned her down to 11.
Getting use to Alda gone took a week.I wasted fuel. Now I know a 1/4 pedal till boost saves fuel.Hope this helps.

Shimming the ALDA is the way to go IMO.

Right. Its just advancing the existing fuel curve.

So I get fuel faster as the turbo spools a little faster. I get your point about max fuel being max fuel. So I get max fuel faster than normal with the adjustment?

When I first got the car it was so slow it was dangerous. I pried off the screw on top of the ALDA and turned it CCW. That brought the car to life again. What was going on there? Is my ALDA worn out?

Could be any number of things (linkage, valve adjustment, drivetrain problems, dragging brakes, blocked banjo bolts, worn injectors, dragging turbo, plugged exhaust, worn out injection pump, etc). Thats why the ALDA should always be the last thing in line to be adjusted. Doing it first just covers up the actual problem(s).

Most likely the plumbing that sends boost signal to the ALDA was dirty and plugged up. Happens to most of these cars eventually. It's also easy to fix.

It went through a thorough tuneup before I adjusted. I did everything except check out the injection pump.
