I'm ashamed to admit my diagnosis failure.

And still searching...

Wifes car has always made rythmic tick at slow speeds after long runs. For a year I have convinced myself its the RR end. I have now replaced the axle and bearing and it is still not fixed (but smoother).

I am just ashamed to admit I have failed it such a simple diagnosis. Still clicking and now I finally feel it in the steering.............

The only people that don't make mistakes are the people that don't do anything.

I've been wrenching on cars for almost 30 years now, I don't make too many mistakes anymore but over the years I've made plenty - and some of them have been pretty costly.

Errors are part of the learning process - nothing to be ashamed of here.

Had summit similar few years back --but on different car....

Slight sort of click at speed of the road-wheels, just perceptable in steering....

There was a hairline crack in a front brake-disc....

Hubcaps?

I've had clicking come from hubcaps. Check all lug bolts! Anything on the drive shaft that might click? Good luck.

The SD would make a rhythmic click at slow speeds after a long run in very hot weather. By the time I considered bothering to find it...........it was gone.

It was definitely on the LF wheel...........you could hear it distinctively when passing a road barrier on the left side.

Has to be a clearance issue or a lack of lubrication in the bearings.

The SD is out of service waiting for me to do some front end work. That's on the agenda as well.

Ditto on the above.

Dont ask me how I learned about putting a rag in the starter wart of the transmission.

Now where did that pesky bolt go

All aside I as just absolutely certain it was coming from the back. Axle needed replacement anyways was all cracked. God was the bearing PITA.

Front ones need to be done as I have not done them at all.

I am just glad I am not the only one who has run across this type thing... We have to share this kind of frustration or we have missed a potentially very helpful use of the internet...

Ever try to solve a loping hot idle on a 617? Even the internet can't help you there.

I was going to replace the IP and that week the problem solved itself.
