Is it normal to feel Shame?

I'm buying a '78 450SEL to replace my broken dodge. I feel as though I'm letting the diesel community here down...

It's the same car that I was speaking about a year or two ago, only they've rebuilt the transmission and repaired the heads! all for $2000!

I'm gonna have to put the kibash on the SD permanently. (unless I have more bird brained ideas)

So, if it turns out that I happen to like the 4.5, I may have a vehicles worth of 116 Diesel parts.

I go get it tomorrow

Hey at least it is still a Mercedes and a 450 SEL to boot! And of course it is still a W116...

Just don't kill off the SD yet. You will miss the clank of the 617

Those are the diesel gods speaking to you thru your conscience. Ignore at your peril.

Nah........no shame there. I felt nothing but pleasure when I picked up the 740iL. The diesels are great........but, nothing matches the 740.

Funny...this is exactly what my wive said...we are downsizing a little and her 2007 C350 is going in off lease. She is now driving the 300D. Now one would think going from a 2007 Mercedes to an 85'....what a letdown.....she said "a Mercedes is a Mercedes"

Nothing wrong with a 450...thats got some power! It will probably be a bit thirsty though! For 2k you can't go wrong, I'd be happily filling it up!

Just enjoy a different aspect of what Mercedes has to offer. Compare. It's like drinking Hungarian wine after spending a long time drinking German wine, there's good in both fields (diesel and gas).

Yeah, I'll Miss it, I'm keeping the 'diesel essentials' in the event this 4.5 craps out (but I doubt it) or I decide to go back to diesel.

The most common time to want to throw the towel in on diesels is winter. If you can, hold off on your decision until it gets warm.
