Input shaft bearing—any out there?

So, just separated themanual trans from the engine, the input shaft on the trans is quite wobbly. I’ve looked around online for a new bearing and seal, I can’t seem to locate one. Anyone have any suggestions? Or perhaps a P/N? Thanks!

If you’re talking about the 717-400 5-speed, the input shaft bearing part number is 004 981 0125

For some types of transmissions this is normal, the pilot bearing in the crankshaft keeps things aligned.

Be sure to research how to change the input shaft bearing, many times it is a trans completely apart operation.

Thanks, I'll look further into whether mine is actually worn out or not...I just had the opinion of a gear head friend, but he doesn't have any Mercedes experience just everything else. No, this is a 4-speed manual, the common one.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, didn’t want to mess with it!
