Chevy S10 617

So i just came across a 126 sitting out in a guy's yard that he never drives. He doesnt like the car and complains about how slow it is going up hills....if only he knew how mine runs! Anyways, i took a peek at the odo and its only got 252,000 on the clock...about 80,000 less than mine. The body is in perfect shape and is the exact same color as mine. go figure. the interior is pretty bad and the driver side rear window doesnt work.

So my idea is to buy the car and use all the good parts on it for my car and use the engine in in for an S10 project. I know this would be a long shot but i have always wanted a 4x4 S10 with a 617 that i could haul stuff around in and still get descent mileage. The biggest hurdle will be linking up the tranny and the 617. i plan to use an S10 5 speed that way i would only have a slight loss in mileage due to wind resistance and such. does anyone have any ideas on the best way to link the two?
