98 E300 1 pin rear brake pads ?

Just looking for some confirmation. According to parts supplier info. Rear brake pads have one Retaining Pin from chassis range A379347 and on. I assume that the last 7 didgits on my VIN number ( A540949 ) is my chassis number and thus mean I need 1 pin pads.

I hate ordering wrong parts.

Scott

I see the parts info is still screwed up for rear brake pads. It was screwed up in the late 90's, some things never change. I would take a look at your calipers and see if you have one or two pins. Been through this too many times working the shop counter over the years.

Yes, It looks like the only way to be sure is to pull it out and look. I was just trying to save some time and only have to pull it a part once. Better safe than sorry.

Or, to save wrenching time, if there are two types available, buy both and return the other one. You will still have wasted time returning the unneeded part, but saved time by not having to get cleaned up twice.
