WHunter, that is wonderful information. Ever since my 3 year stint in the Army as a diesel mechanic, I have always been in love with the Diesel engine. I stumped my co-workers at the machine shop I work at this week, My alternator on my 83 240D went out, and my battery was dead, so I told my friends I needed a jump start. My buddies looked at me in confusion and said "You fool, your car wont make it home with no alternator and a dead battery." So I got a jump start and said "See you guys tommorow" and drove off. They all were in shock....lol, The next day I explained to them that the classic diesel design thats in my 240 did not require any electricity to run, at all.... That was their first lesson in Diesel technology.

quite funny, you may have to use hand signals if the 5-0 just so happened to roll up right after your alternator fails (which they probably will just for Murphy)

I think this by far is the best piece of literature about the 260D since it was published by Mercedes Benz.
