Mileage badges discontinued?

I just went with my brother to the MB dealer to order a key for his new 89 420SEL. I figured since it's snowing out that the sales people were not that busy. I told them I wanted to fill out an application for some high mileage badges since my car has 422K on it. The nice older salesman said he didnt know anything about how to do it and he asked the other guy. That other guy looked like he didnt want to do any work today... he said MB discontinued the high mileage badge program. Any truth to that?

No, you have to go to MBUSA's site and under the Classic section downl;oan and print off the form. The dealer just verifies the mileage info.

There are (some) dealers oblivious to this program. I had a service writer very reluctant to sign off on the mileage even though car was present. I just sign them off myself now.

Well they want you to go to the dealership to have them fill it out - that way you will fall in love with the S65 on the floor and throw a $180K check at them. That's the reality -In the real world I fill in the stuff for the dealer - just saving them time, they are busy

Go to the dealer and get in good with the parts guy. My parts guy signs mine off for me...he appreciates the older classic MB's. He started with them.
Anyone that works for the dealership can sign them off. If they will.

OH! One other thing. Do NOT use a P.O. Box address or they will not deliver. The badge and the fancy decree (in a bound folder) comes in a box that is delivered by UPS or Fedex......not the post office.

I wouldn't sign it off yourself just on the off chance they check it out.

This is a great perk for MB owners. The presentation is nice. You can also get a copy of the original window sticker for FREE.

New car salesmen don't really have a lot of enthusiasm for these old, high mileage cars. They get more excited about the new ones that they get paid to sell. Still, I think it's kind of rotten when they just blow people off like that.
