Anyone know what is going on with this?

Hi all, I have an 87 300TDT and yesterday I started her up, (starts easy) and when she fired I gave her a little shot of fuel and let off quickly and it stalled. Well that was it, she would not fire again. I had to hold the pedal to the floor and crank her over and over. Let it sit a second (for starter to cool) and crank again. Finally after what seemed like 5 minutes she fired up and run perfect. It was almost like it was either out of fuel or had too much fuel in the combustion chamber. This happen once before but that time I let it sit for an hour or so and it started up fine. This time I didn't have that luxury. What causes this? Vapor locked if that is possible? Any help would be great.
