Silicone Injector Return Line - True Or False ?

I was told that the injector return line that has a light gray braid with an orange stripe is silicone.
True or False.??.

MBZ No. 605-078-05-81 ( all of the web shots of this no. are of the dark gray /black braid return line)
Local MBZ Dealer says the no. above is the light gray line.
Doesn't know of it is silicone.
World Pac No. W0133-171-5390

The black braid oe line lasts me about a 18 months and then starts to leak.
I was told the supposed silicone line will last much longer before it leaks.

silicone has a poor resistance to fuel, so I doubt it. What you want is Viton.

I have heard good and bad regarding Viton for use with fuel.
Some say it performs poorly with fuel .
OK, so silicone is supposed to perform poorly with diesel as well.
I wonder what the light gray braid return line is then since it is an OE return line for a number of MBZ OM6* series engines.

Surely it must not be silicone if silicone performance is poor with diesel.

I have been using polyurathane hose for return lines for many years with both diesel and biodiesel. Lasts a lot longer than the factory braided hose.

fryerpower.com sells viton return line material.

My 99 has the light gray return line material. Has not leaked for the last 5 years I've owned it, but, i don't tug on or bother em either.
