Can some one help me decode the mystery of what engine I have?

I know it is an OM 606.910. I was on the Russian site that tells you about your vehicle when you put in the VIN. The engine that should be in my car is 606190 12 007076. The engine that is in there is 606190 12 018544 254410. If I understand this, engine #7076 should be in my car, not engine #18544. Also the last 6 numbers I believe correlate with the vehicle VIN. If that is true I should see 116954, not 254410.

So there is one of two possibilities, that the dealer I bought this from swapped just the head or the whole engine. Either way this explains a lot of the weirdness I have encountered. SAE bolts on the intake, a 1" chunk of plastic stuck in an intake port, ATF filler tube from another car, and a small bolt in the exhaust system before the cat.

So my question is can anyone get me the whole VIN of the donor car and how many miles were on it?

The engine serial number, as you have seen, is what is listed on the russian site. AFAIK it has no relation to the VIN - I don't know about those last 6 digits - maybe I am wrong. It sounds like, for whatever reason, your car does not have its original engine and it was replaced with a later one.

I don't think you will be able to reverse search and find the "donor car's" VIN, but I suppose if you did you could run a carfax on it and see what it turned up.

Chances are that you will never be able to get the whole story of what happened to your car (I have a similar situation with my '87) but you could try asking the dealer anyway. The other thing that I would do (and do for my car) is to find someone with a "perfect" [unmodified] engine bay and go over it with a fine-tooth comb, photographing and comparing it to yours. Then go through yours, piece by piece, and put as much back to factory stock as you have time and pocketbook for. Things like replacing the SAE bolts with metric should not be difficult. Having the correct parts on the car makes diagnosis a lot easier in the future.

They don't match any numbers on the engine with the chasis number when they build the car?

Before I purchased the car I ran a carfax and it came back as a one owner, dealer serviced vehicle. When I was signing the paperwork I noticed that the dealer had the car for over a year.

These guys really mucked it up. I have been replacing what I know is off. There were some foam pieces and several rubber strips under the hood that were missing. It is coming together.

The eng and trans would be referenced to the chassis number.
