W210 rear wheel bearing control arm joints
My wife was driving and the rear top control arm broke. This could be all or the wheel bearing lower control arm top control arm mounting ear is broken.
I took over the driving, but she did not wreck it and was going about 75 mph around a corner. The tire laid over and wore thru the shock plastic cover and thru the tire rubber into the cord. Gave up and got put on the AAA tow truck. I looked under and just did a rough look see, I will have to pull the wheel and brake set-up and check the bearing housing. Has anyone had this problem on their W210 E300? Man is that wheel loose, it wobbles up and down and sideways 2 inches. And I drove it for a bit to far. Who do we use for these big parts? Larry |

We use Phil (FastLane link at the top of the page) for big parts, small parts and in between parts.
I've heard of the upper strut breaking on non-rusty 124s. I believe the 210 rear suspension is similar. In a 124 you replace it and get on with life. IIRC the 124 replacement has a boxed section rather than the original open channel. Makes me wonder if they should be replaced in pairs. Sixto 87 300D |
