Engine-valves --locknut part-number needed...

Just a quickie, if anyone has an EPC around...

I need the part-number of the lock-nut screwed onto the valve-stem below the cap-nut on the 617 engines....

Thanks!

Thanks!

Is that 'lasso' number the same that M.B. use?

'Normally' the part-numbers seem to start with summit like 615.xxx or 617.xxx

153 990 02 51-ordered 8pcs. cople of years ago(found the receipt)..

Normally,yes...but maybe some early model used this part too
By the way,the material of the new locknut was different to the original-the older nuts were of some softer alloy and shiny...and easily got rounded.

The part number would begin with the first model that part started life.

Yes, I found out the hard way, The metal is pretty soft.....

I have replaced the valves and guides myself. The new valves had just slight burring on their threads where the slot is cut....

I screwed on my existing nuts to find the threads torn out

Before I totalled too many more, I carefully de-burred just the edges by the slots on the valves to allow the nuts to screw easily by finger only.

So, Now I need a couple of nuts...But I might as well change the lot while I'm there....
