Trailer hitch on W124 (87 300D) not TD, but yes Turbo
I'm looking for SPECIFIC information for the make and model number of trailer hitch that can be installed on a 1987 300D, sedan. I would like to know from someone who has one already installed on their vehicle.
Thanks |

I did mine a few months ago.
You have to order the 300E part number (same body.)
It's fairly straight forward, you'll have to take off the back muffler and all the plastic paneling out of the trunk. I already had the bumper off for paint work. I got a converter box for the lights, to manage the 4 to 3 change and it's also short protected in addition to the fuse. It takes the same time running the power (batt to box) wires than putting in the hitch. http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-1987_Mercedes-Benz_300E.htm

or you can call the Hitch House in Decatur, GA. They installed mine, and know quite a bit about the confusing choices available.
I think you will also need a relay, its advisable to have a good shop hook up the wiring, it took me waaay longer than the $80 they were gonna charge...and i didnt use the relay, so I have dim trailer lights.
