1985 300SD water pump replacement

Does anyone out there know of a good DIY article for replacing the water pump on a 300SD? How tough is the job?
Thanks!
Jim

Hello:
I don't know any DIY but I classify this job as easy and I have done it on my 1984 - 300SD previously.
Some folks suggest to remove the radiator to perform this job but I didn't remove. Here is how I did it:
1- Remove fan plastic cover which is attached to radiator by pressure clips.
2- Remove fan from water pump shaft. There are four 10 mm hex head bolt.
3- Loose tension from alternator belts by means loosing alternator tensioner.
If alternator belts are in need of change, it is a good opportunity to do it.
You don't need to remove belts if you plan not to change it.
4- Remove pulley from water pump shaft.
5- From water pump, remove bolts 10 mm hex head and pump should come
out from aluminum housing. Housing will stay on engine block.
6- Be careful not to hit the radiator when removing pump from engine.
7- Make sure to have new gasket when installing new pump.
8- Assembly is just in reverse order.

Good luck on your job.

^^That's pretty much what I did too, not difficult. I used a bit of sealant just to keep the gasket in place.

Drain the coolant first.

One of the easiest cars to do.

Wouldn't hurt to do a citric acid flush too.

You are right.
I did not flush mine with citric acid but I did few times with my garden hose until water ran clean. The job was very easy.
Yesterday I just finish installation of new fuel injectors after adjust valves and take compression readings on my 1982 - 300 SD with 243K miles
Engine is running fine but the only thing that is bothering me is a lot of vibration when in idle. Vibration was there before change injectors.
What you think it can be?
