I got to say, the difference is like night and day faster acceleration, My boost goes up to 12 psi with the 300SDL air box instead of 10 with the buck air box, Anyways i tired many position and i ended up with this, it dose not move any where no vibration knocking nothing, even driving hard, and a special thx to daw_two and the other members that suggested me to get one!!!

Much better than the Buick. Next step is to detail that engine bay. With the shiny intake tube your engine bay looks like a crackhead with one good tooth.

Simple green spray, brillo pad, rinse. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Removing the valve cover and polishing would look nice too.

And how are two bends in the air intake better than the original one bend?

The accuracy of that statement makes it even funnier

Well it's not as nice looking as stock, but it's executed well for what it is.:)

Does any one know if the Calif 85 300SD has the air filter behind the headlight like the 85 300D? If so that might be a better solution. would look more factory.

Good Job. Is that black plastic pipe stock, or something from Home Depot?

See, when i replaced my valve cover gasket i cleaned up it up and got it shiny about 3 month ago, i guess the gasket is not a good brand.

lots of black plastic pipe which one are you talking about charmalu?

this is a my temporary setup until i can get a hold of more plastic flexible pipe that way it will make the engine bay a little more neater i had all the pipes you see a in the picture long time ago so i am putting them to a good use :D

Overall this car is now a rocket is way better than that K&N Style and the Buick Air **** box and runs quieter at highway cruse!

Oh the filter almost cost $50 buck at autozone, what's the DEAL!!!

Yes, all California diesels have the air filter behind the headlight....the downside to that air cleaner is that since it was only made one year....the filter element is like $45-50! Vs about $15 for the engine mounted style.

I was refering to the plastic pipe in your second picture. the one coming out of the bottrom side, in this case top since it is up side down.

Is it a quality Fernco (C) ? :D ;)

Actros617 06-10-2009 11:49 PM

IDK, but it fits well and handle heat really good though

DeliveryValve 06-10-2009 11:50 PM

Much better. Good job.

As I stated in the earlier thread, I would get the 300SDL's coolant tank, do some mods to the mounting, and put that box in the 300SDL's stock location in front of the tank. Just my opinion.

Fastlane has a Mann filter for $23.54.

To make a correction to the earlier post on the other thread. The CFM is not 575 it is actually the CFM is 630! Somehow I ended up with the CFM 575 on the search, but I knew something was wrong 'cause I could of sworn I've seen it at 630 before.
