from a 240d to a 190d

I recently bought an 86 190d 2.5 5 speed(euro version apparently) to replace my rusted and slow 81 240d 4 speed. The 190 is similar and at the same time very different to my 240.. smaller car with a bigger engine, plus ABS and ALOT more wires. So I just from changing the air filter I can say that getting to stuff it's going to take alot longer.
I wanted to know what parts are shared with my 240d.. I bought alot of things with lifetime warranty from autozone and I'm hoping not to have to have to buy them again.. things like the battery, brake pads, alternator, starter, etc.
Also.. I could use the FSM, but I can't find it online. Will probably get a haynes manual if I can't find it.

Starter is different I think. Just measure the battery case size. It might be usable. As already mentioned not a lot of common interchangable items between the two. Basically a different car.

Having owned a 190D (OM 601) and a 240D (OM 616), I would have to say there are NO common parts I can recall except for things like the fuel return lines or clutch master cylinder and would think that would be the same for the OM 602 in your 190D. That car was a huge departure from the w123.

Yeah... major improvement from my 240d. It actually goes when I step on the gas and you can do 80mph without the engine feeling like it's on its way out(thank you 5 speed).. plus MPG is also great.
Apparently just about everything n that car is different. I replaced the plastic fuel filter today and I was going to use a filter that I had for my w123, but it's not the same.

Even a 190 is not a 190 when it comes to the radiator ,meaning gas from diesel ,they are quit different .If you spot a radiator in a yard from either a 190d 2.2 or the 2.5 ,grab it .New they are priced in the mid $300 range.Alternators are high also from what I remember.Parts cost will haunt you on this move up the MB food chain sorry to say, but hey its still an indiestructable little power house.Mine had hydrualic valve issues when it hit over 300k .valve tappets needed ,$450 for parts and service.
