Cleaning power sunroof cable tube
I have the failed original power sunroof cable ("teleflex cable" in the FSM) to remove and replace in my 300D.
Researching the subject online, I have encountered some suggestions (before cable re-installation) to clean the teleflex tube using a small brush (like that intended for aquarium tubing cleaning) attached to a wire. My question: If I clean the tube with the brush (moving front to rear), is it good practice to do so dry or using a solvent (e.g., brake cleaner, denatured alcohol) on the brush bristles or sprayed into the tube? To be clear, I will have the tube disconnected from the front of the trunk-mounted motor so any detritous pushed through can be caught. I'd appreciate any insight about this subject. Thanks. I'm not familiar with that specific cable but if it is like a speedometer cable and cable casing/housing first test a small area to confirm that the brake cleaner doesn't dissolve or damage the material. If it doesn't dissolve any material I'd blow it out with compressed air, flush it with brake cleaner, pull the brush through, re-flush it and blow it out with compressed air and then lube it.

I use La's Totally Awesome cleaner for almost everything. Using it for years after a mechanic told me about it when I was going to rebuild the M103 in my 300SE. The other day cleaned the oven with it and years of grease and build up came of without a hitch. Don't think it does any damage to anything, highly save product to use.
