How's this fan?
I mainly do stop and go traffic so the vicious fan just works at idle (~600 rpm). I want to upgrade the cooling especially for better a/c performance.
Does this fan provide as much flow as the stock fan as lets say at 2000 rpm?

I've never heard of the manufacturer. Googling "+Kleinn" only produces a manufacturer of air horns.

Mechanical Fan with Viscous Fan Clutch Better ???
"I mainly do stop and go traffic so the vicious fan just works at idle (~600 rpm)."
Your Viscous Fan Clutch is not functioning properly ,if it only provides Air Flow below 600 RPM ! (And I suspect your Idle speed is a little low) Edit: http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/zirgo/product.lasso?prodinc=coolingfans 1 (800) 651 1970 [Lifetime Warranty] I just called the Hoffman Group about this fan. They do sell a 16" 3425 CFM,"S" bladed fan ,But It ain't $90.00.It's $150.00. If you notice the Flea Bay seller DOES NOT state that the FAN itself is "Zirgo" Only the Temperature Sensor ! Caveat Emptor ! [He's trying to IMPLY the fan is a Zirgo! When it is Not!] Would the fan's CFMs supply enough air flow ? (The question is would 3425 CFM be equal to or better than the Mechanical Fan's output?) The gentleman @ the Hoffman Group says it will. What's the Peak Amperage output of the 201's Alternator? 70-75 Amps? Time for the GSXR Alternator UPGRADE: Installed a 143A alternator in my W124 (86-95E-class) - with photos (With the Electric Radiator Fan and the Electric HVAC Blower Fan both running You're @ 60 Amps Draw...) The only drawback I see is you give up the more or less(MUCH LESS) foolproof (?) Mechanical Fan With Viscous Fan Clutch AND become dependent on the Electrical Fan for proper engine cooling. Edit(Again): Here's a thought...replace the current Auxiliary Fan with the Zirgo.(In front of the Radiator/Condenser,so that it pushes [Blades reverse-able] )and wire it to this Temp sensor [replacing the one in the top of the head @ the Radiator hose]: 006 545 40 24 which "Triggers" the High Speed Fan @ 100 C.(the A/C 's Pressure operated switch will turn on the Low Speed fan as soon as pressures inside the system reach level.) EDIT: (Through the kind services of GSXR's forum correction) I must point out BOTH of the above statements are Incorrect! CORRECTION: MB # 008 542 45 17 (Blue Two pole SENSOR) operates as low as 107 C. AND MB # 006 545 40 24 is a SWITCH not a sensor...SO the two are not interchangeable! Do you think it might be about time for a New Radiator? Properly Serviced the OM602 engine's NOT (Normal Operating Temperature) is about 80-85 C ,Even in Ambient temperatures of Triple Digits. If you REALLY want COLD air get a Parallel Flow Condenser (30% more efficient) And then put that Zirgo fan in front of the Condenser!

I installed one of those Zirgo 16 inch electric fans a few year ago, they are made in china. they are junk. I bought it off e-bay,along with the temp probe that is suppose to fit inside the upper radiator hose.
There is no way it will fit like the directions say w/o leaking. I thought it was a goofy set up from the start. The Fan started to make a lot of noise after about a year. seemed a bearing went out. I bought a 16 inch Spal electric fan like the hot rod guys use. I was talking to the vender at the Good Guys car show. he said Zirgo uses a bearing and a bushing in the shaft, and the bushing usually craps out. I have used this fan for over 2 yrs w/o any problems. I wired it in using a MB relay I picked up from PNP and wired it in nxt to the one under the black plastic box on the drivers fender next to the AC fan relay. looks all stock. I then installed a MB red temp sensor, screwed in on the thermostat housing that turns on at 100C. also have a back up switch to turn it on. The fan rarely turns on with in town driving, and never comes on driving on the highway. The temp stays with in operating limits. I have read all the fears of over heating the engine, that the engine driven fan should never be removed. etc... etc.... Charlie

Did you "86" the Mechanical fan?
I can't tell from your post about retrofitting the Spal
if you used it instead of the Auxiliary Fan(s) or the Mechanical one.

Davies Craig have fans with controlers and electric in-line water pumps which will do what you want.

I installed a SPAL 30101516 fan and SPAL PWM controller. I doubt many electric fans will pull as much air as a stock fan at 2000 RPM, but they'll definitely pull more at zero MPH and idle. Note that you don't need to buy the fan mount kit, as it already comes with one. |

I looked at the fan, and it is model# VA18-AP70/LL-88A 12V.
I didn`t notice it before, but it is made in Italy. I did buy the rubber gasket piece that fits between the fan and radiator fins. the fan is mounted on all 4 corners and in the center out to the sides. attached with large pop rivits to the edge on the radiator on the flange piece that sticks out along the sides. Charlie, since you deleted your aux fan, why didn't you use the temp switch and relay for the aux fan on your new engine fan? Also, it seems that 100c is a bit hot for turning on this fan. Since MBZ normally uses a 87c thermostat, why not use a fan temp switch of 95c? (BMW uses this same switch on one of their models).

Yes, the 100C does seem to be on the warm side. I wasn`t sure at the time on how to attach a temp switch to make it come on, and had a toggle switch to flip it on. the temp switch that came with the Zirgo fan I first installed was a joke. then the probes that stick into the radiator are something to be desired. I got the 100C from a local MB indy that works on MB only. he recommended the switch and ordered it for me. I didn`t know of a lower temp switch. Thank you for the info, I will look into replacing it. the 100C is the one with the red plastic. I did have a blue one on it when I first bought the car, don`t remember what it went to. since then we decalifornialized it, and federalized it, then deautomaticed it to a manualized one. now I don`t remember what went where. but she do run more better, smoother, quicker and faster . plus milage increased, last tank was 32.72. best ever Charlie
