Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 10W-30
Is there any problem if I run this oil in my 602.962 in the winter time for better starting? Currently I use Delvac 15W50 in the summer (Only had the car for few months). I'm not even sure yet if I can find the oil in NC.
The spec sheet shows that it is not MB approved. My MB manual says 10W30 is acceptable between -4F to +50F. Might even think about using half and half for 12.5W40 mix if you all think it is too thin. Anyone else using it? |
That is not a diesel grade oil. Use diesel oil. Dino Rotella T 15w40 is barely $12-13 a gallon. And Delvac 1300 15w40 is around the same. Use a proper oil!!
And do not mix oil weights, they have different additives and formulations. Bad idea! Use a proper diesel oil and it will be fine. In NC you can probably just use a 15w40 diesel oil year round. Or even better, a 5w40 synthetic diesel oil. |
Why not use Mobil 1? You can get 0, 5 or 10 and Walmart has the 5 qt jug for sale at $22 down from $28. Then you can drive 7500-10,000 miles rather than 3-3500miles.

All Delvacs are lubricants for diesel engines.
It is better if you can afford Delvac1 |

I politely disagree. See the Mobil page for the specs on that oil. |
I still wouldn't use a 30 weight oil in a diesel engine. If you want better winter starting use a 5w40.

Read your manual. You can use 30W oil if the ambient temperatures are extremely low.

I did read my manual. The copyright date on it was 1991, and oil technologies have come a long way since then. I'll stick with my 5w40.

I have a buddy in TX that works for an oil company formulating diesel oils. I asked for recommendations and got a 2 hour lecture about lubricant technology. In the end though- I gave him some brands and weights- and it ended up Rotella (yes) and Delo (yes). So which ever is on sale (and available) the 190d gets. I bought a bunch of Rotella T on "sale" last year- I'm still using it. The 190d really seems to prefer it in the cold to other stuff I've tried.

The weight of the oil is not the point. AFAIK, Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 10W-30 is not diesel-rated. Period.
|
Yeah, any local autozone should have a whole separate shelf with at least 5-6 different kinds and brands of diesel oils.....take your pick.

Delvac is specifically made for Diesel engine. Did you go to Mobil link in Bio300TDTdriver's response ?

AS far as I can tell they both are diesel oils.
