Center vents not working? It's the leaky VCV.

I decided to look at why my center vents aren't opening.

The vacuum pod holds vacuum and actuates when I apply vacuum to the #6 line on the climate vacuum control manifold. I measured the vacuum going to the manifold and it was only 4 inches. THe pod need 5-6 before it starts opening. Diagnosing vacuum in the engine I found that if I disconnect the line to the vacuum control valve on the side of the IP and plug the line, vacuum goes up to 25 inches. What part is replaceable? Do I have to replace the whole unit or what?

![]() You can open it up by taking the side off, I forget what actually seals it. I tried the same thing and just got one from a yard car. The internal spring may also be broken, leaving the valve open all the time. Water gets in there and they rust out completely. dd

I can't remember the site now, I think it was like w124performance.com? In the images section there was one of these taken apart. It was one of our member's sites.
