IIRC, counterclockwise reduces pressure on it...........but, it would be better if we could get confirmation...........it's been awhile.

So it's very important that the little rubber cap over the adjusting T on the unit at the transmission not leak?

It shouldn't leak at all............but, a small leak............say 30 seconds to bleed down............won't harm anything.

I've been searching and now I can't find who suggested it... I thought it was you Brian.. but I just unhooked the transducer on my car. After a quick re-adjust for the modulator (had to make it quite a bit firmer actually!) shifting is much, much improved. Previously the 1-2 shift was far too hard, especially at low speeds and low go pedal input. It would jar the car quite badly. Other shifts would sometimes be too firm, and other times be fine. Now things are near perfect. The only thing I would change would be to make the 2-3 shift at 100% go pedal be a bit firmer.

I may try adjusting the transducer sometime in the future, but for now I think I'll leave it be.

Your time is better spent on other things than making the BFS work. Shifts will be a little stiffer when cold but not disagreeably so.

With the BFS out of the loop, you can use the temp sensor location by the thermostat for a temp switch to trigger an afterglow relay.

The W126 never got the temp vacuum switch system, and the 350s already have afterglow The W126s don't have the ALDA cut out when the cruise is set either.

Oops, I didn't check your fleet list. I thought this was an 86-87 SDL which should have the BFS temp switch.

What's this about ALDA cutout when the cruise is set? My 87 SDL definitely had boost when cruise was active.

I was reading in the FSM that the W124 had a system that cut out the ALDA when the cruse was set.

My boost gauge says my 87 300D has boost with the cruise engaged. The boost gauge reads boost downstream of the overboost switchover valve. Maybe the switchover valve is defective

At a coolant temperature below 50º C, a temperature switch (#20) cuts off vacuum signal from the Vacuum Control Valve (VCV) at a Switchover Valve (#125) on the diagram. The vacuum in the circuit produces a higher vacuum to the transducer from a direct line to the vacuum pump (#76). Then this higher vacuum is sent to the modulator softening the shifts while the engine is cold.

When the coolant temperature rises above 50º C, the switchover valve is powered on and the VCV now controls the transducer.
