Roof mouldings???

I really need to paint the roof on my 91 300D.There are 2 metal mouldings with rubber under them that i should remove to be able to avoid taping and having an edge on the paint that could be trouble later.Question is can these be removed without taking the headliner down? If so can you explain how it is done? TIA Don
