Problem pressure bleeding 1987 300d, leaking under pressure

Connected the pressure bleeder to the top of the reservor opened up the nipple on the brake caliper and applied some pressure, immediately the two rubber caps on top of the reservor started leaking brake fluid like crazy! How did you guys get around that??
